RAVENGLASS FOLK MEET

Dsc02588zc

Welcome to the

Ravenglass Folk Meet

This year’s dates

Friday 3 to Sunday 5 June 2011

Folk music, Morris dancing, real ale and live steam, based in this beautiful, historic coastal village in the Lake District.

We will update this site as our plans progress. Our programme for 2011 is here. We are now inviting Morris sides to take part in the 2011 event.

Who’s coming in 2011?

Three sides with very different styles of dancing, who worked together brilliantly last year:

John o’ Gaunt Morris Men from Lancaster, who were our guests at the first Locomorris in 2004 and proved that steam-powered Morris works.

Stone the Crows from Preston, specialists in corvid Border Morris with black faces, black plumage, sticks, plenty of noise and excitement. They made their first visit here in 2010

Westmorland Step and Garland Dancers from Kendal, who also made a very successful debut in 2010 with their graceful and vigorous dancing in the North-West style.

There is still room for more. If your side would like to take part and you haven’t received an invitation yet, please contact us for more information and a booking form.
